Record of Technical and logistical Sucesses encountered at any stage during production!

The successful encounters!

The successes that have occurred during my production is having permission to film at the pub for my main story. Where they have allowed me to film on two consecutive days and also the manager signed the location permission form. This will allow me to film the establishing shot and film inside the pub and with the reporter reporting the story on location.

Also the planned
shots I wanted to do for each story have changed a little as on location my decisions changed where I explored different shots which I felt looked better at the time. Also the script has been changed a little and not stuck to 100% as while filming words were rephrased they sound better. Also the stories changed of the leisure centre to the tree story being the headline due to no permission to film at the leisure centre.

Also while editing the successes that occurred where that I was able to create professional titles and effective background images in live type. Where I was able to have the tiles background moving like an animation. Also I was able to change the colours of them to fit in with my conventions of my programme, where everything was blue, I did this to keep everything consistent. Also the background image for my studio was good as it moved effectively.

Also while using final cut pro I was able to
use this new technology and learn new things.

Where I was able to use
the effect of the green screen and add an effective blue background.
Also I was able to superpose a moving image in the right hand of the screen, this was good as this made the studio look
more realistic. As most of the news programmes have moving image clip as they are reporting each individual story. Also I was able to superimpose the logo in the left hand of the screen, this is good to have as it shows the brand identity of my news programme.

Also while editing my hyperlinked pages on Dream Weaver I was able to have flash buttons that looked eye catching and which look more effective to look at. Also the buttons made my Web page look better. As when you click on each button animation occurs, where circles appear this makes the
Webpage more like other Webpage where alot of animation is perfected.

Record of Technical and logistical problems encountered at any stage during production!

The Problems encountered!

The problems that occurred with filming is the location of the leisure centre had to be taken out of my programme as they did not grant permission for me to film there. so on the day of filming I had to change the story involving a cutting down all trees story. So the location changed to the park where I filmed trees, where I was given permission to film as they gave me permission to film there for the other story involving the Clissold farm. Also this change in story has been changed on the script.

Also while filming the studio with the
representer, problems occurred as it took longer to film as drilling and building where going along which may have affected the sound of my programme. So I had to do lots of takes over and over.

Also the need for a real
restaurant to be filmed was failed as the restaurants I went to wouldn't give me permission to
film and they didn't like the fact of the story. This was due to the negative story and also they didn't want to sign the location agreement. Also to change the story would be to late as i had planned
everything and had to hit deadlines of filming within a two-week schedule.
So instead I used the my sixth form canteen to act as the
restaurant, this is ok as the
footage of the headline will only be 15 seconds long.

Also I got
per 100% permission to film in Clissold park as they said it would be fine if I was filming for coursework. However the park rangers wouldn't sign the location permission form. This is because the manger has to sign it and no one else. It was difficult to find him as every time I went to get him to sign the form was not there. This is due to him not having schedule, so he doesn't know when he's free because some days he could have meetings and go to different places. The park rangers said I they couldn't give a set day and time he will be free. So its very hard to get him to sign the form. However the park rangers said it's still no problem and they give me 100% permission to film and use the footage.

Also another problem that
occurred is that the fact that I cannot film all the shots I want for my main story this is due to getting people permission to film them. Also I was thinking of recreating the shots with actors. However I decided not to do this as it wouldn't look realistic. So for some shots that I story boarded I couldn't use which changed for example people drinking alcohol and people making noise and messing around and drunk.

Additionally while editing my hyperlinked pages problems occurred as the layout didn't look good as it was hard to move everything around so that everything is in line with each other.

Also problems also occurred when editing in final cut pro as I found it hard to edit some pieces of footage. As the technology is different from i-Movie. Also its very tricky moving things around. As if u copy and paste in a location it will take the footage of the clip that's next to it if the clip your pasting is longer than the other. Also when doing the green screen, the added clip that behind my go other the other one. This occurred the first time I did it. Also the titles at first were too big which covered a quarter of the clip. This wasn't good as this didn't go along with the conventions of a news programme.

Also I had to change my logo as the brand identity wasn't as effective. Also you couldn't see F27 news wording on it. So the logo changed from a clock to a simple logo of the wording of F27 News.

Notes of layouts and content of news websites of channel 4 and BBC!

Notes of layout of BBC 's news website:
of the menu on the side and the information bar showing the latest news on the top of the page with the news headlines below moving in a blue colour.

Also video clips showing old news of Margaret Thatcher of Brighton Bomb and news link to news around the world and like technology and Health.

Also there is a list of 1-5 of the most popular stories and links to TV and Radio Programmes other news programmes. Also red colours on the top of the screen showing a link to channel live BBC channel of BBC news 24. Also the weather and sport on the right hand side the bottom.

Secondly the Channel 4 news layout of the website shows the news headlines in a blue colour which is in listed layout with images of each story. Also the menu is on the left hand side and the channel 4 news TV listings programmes and at the top of the page is other channel 4 programmes.

Also video clips of five main news that's been running for weeks which is at the top of the page on the right hand side. Also there is links other top stories in main areas such as Politics and business.

The information bar shows the latest news but does not show the stories moving and which is right at the top of the homepage, so to see different stories you would have press a button to go to the next story. Also on the right hand side of the page there is showing links to the Individual reporters main story blogs and with the image of them with the link. Also the weather and sport on the right hand side the bottom of the page.

Target Audience Focus group

The focus group:

For my focus group I used three people in which I explained to them the run through about my programme and about the shots, the stories and structure involved. They put across there ideas by the writing them down on a paper which had questions on. Also the focus group involved the ages of 16-18 , which are in my target audience and also the people in the focus group was 2 boy's and 1 girl. The things that they liked about my product which was the title being called F27 news which they liked and it was a catchy title, they also said that they liked the fact in the main story that there was reporters on location and also the use of Vox pops.
Some more things they liked was the wide shot of each location that sets the scene and the use of voice overs. Finally more things liked was the use of the stories involved in the leisure centre, animals in Clissold park and drinking age limit.

Also the things in which they thought I should add to my ideas was they thought I should have shots of people chewing gum in the chewing gum clean up story. Also have interviews as well as
vox-pops. They also think that I should show shots from Stoke Newington of the new clean floors and outside play ground floors. Also give statistics for the drinking story, for example giving bar charts showing binge drinking going up.They also
said I should give an interview with someone involving the story of the Clissold farm and saying that the shocked by the arrival of the tigers. Another thing is a person said I should add a shot of some one feeling sick for the food poisioning story.
Finally I Identified 3 key features that my programme must have is the
vox pops of the residents and students talking about there opinions on the drinking age limit.
Also the second thing I should have is have establishing shots for each headline involved.
The third thing I should have is the
clissold park farm story and the drinking age limit as the main story.

Also the three key things I intend to add to my ideas is adding statistics involving binge drinking and its effects and also bar charts to
illustrate some of the statistics.

Another thing I will add to my product is a shot of some one chewing gum for the chewing gum clean up.

Also I will add a shot of people feeling sick for the food
poisioning story.

This is an a this is extract of the focus group filmed for 3 mins showing some feedback from the focus group with me explaining the run through of my programme:

Storyboard of key frames

These are the location images below!

Script:

For my news programme F27 News:

Jess: welcome to F27 News and the time is 6’oclock. My name is Jessica Simpson.

Mark: and my name is Mark McKenzie. (Studio)

Jess: The top stories in stoke Newington today are: (Studio)

Mark: The half the trees in Stoke Newington will be cut down due to the short supply of paper, but all the trees will be replanted. (Voiceover)

Jess: Another top story is the mix up of animal orders in Clissold park farm. . Where they ordered birds and deer but got crocodiles and tigers sent to the farm instead. . (Voiceover)

Mark: The local council have ordered a massive £1,000000 clean up of all the chewing gum off the pavements. (Voiceover)

Jess: Retro foods in Church Street have always been known for great food but it was reported yesterday 150 people who eat spaghetti Bolognese there had food poisoning. (Voiceover)

Jess: And finally the age limit for drinking alcohol is now 21 yrs old as the Stoke Newington council changed it two-weeks ago.

(Open sequence is played)

Jess: Our top story involving 21yr old people not drinking alcohol, our reporter James has more of the story. (studio)

James: I’m outside one of the bars in Church Street called CO2 where on a regular basis many students of 18 two weeks ago were able to drink alcohol. But now that has come to an end. Main reason the local council has changed it is because (On location)

(Voiceover): many teenagers are stupidly binge drinking every weekend and vomiting on sidewalks. Also making lots of noise at night. Which isn’t nice for local people trying to sleep and also the teenagers who get them selves in such a bad state isn’t good for them and there health. Local residents told us their concerns.

James: So how do you feel when you see and hear teenagers drinking on the weekends? :(On location)

VOX pops:

Jonny: well being the age I am I feel I have trouble sleeping. As at night all I hear is young people making lots of noise and shouting and laughing. Also this isn’t good for my heath because I need as much strength as I can get. So sleeping is vital.

Becky: Well I find it gruesome to watch all I see is people vomiting and messing around. Also teenagers are on the floor and completely out of their head and looking as if they’re not aware of what of what they are doing at all.

Bob: I think teenagers can’t handle their drink and all they do is go out to binge drink and not really to have a good time but just to get smashed out of their head. So therefore the ban is good to come into action so quickly and will solve all the bad habits of teenager drinking.

James: However the ban has drastically decreased the wages and money coming in for businesses as the bars and pubs, clubs major customers is aged between 18-21yrs old. (On location)

James: So the business at the moment is running low and also the bars, clubs are little more quite at the weekend. They may have to raise prices on drinks to get money back. Which won’t be good for customers over 21yrs. A bar owner and customers told us how they felt about the ban. (voiceover)

VOX Pops:

Izzy: I’m a student and 18 yrs old and this new ban has drastically token away students fun and enjoyment. I don’t see there’s any harm in having a few drinks and having a laugh and having a relaxing night out with friends. They have taken are freedom away.

Peter James: Well I don’t see any point of the lowered age the students who come into are bars are very well behaved and just have a laugh and good time and joke around. This ban is good for business as less money is coming in and also students are suffering as well.

James: That was local residents talking, so you can see the ban has had bad and good effects to it. This is CO2 bar with me James Peterson back to you in the studio. (On location)

Mark: Thank you James for that interesting story. (studio)
